Knight

Knight Neighborhood Association

(formerly Baltz & Crystal Court/Conlin)

This Association is INACTIVE at this time.

Our block on Sweetser Avenue had been close-knit for 24 years. Over time, things changed that lead to some concerns.  We wanted to be there for neighbors we did not know; to try and make a difference; and to keep the area from further decline or problems. Our group had met for holidays or get togethers, but this time we met on a porch and decided to start Balz Neighborhood Association.

After touching base with UNOE, we found that part of our area was already Crystal Court/Conlin Association. We contacted the president, Chris Born and held a meeting with him.  He was very ready to join forces and take on a huge area, but we decided to just work together – not combine.

Sadly, a couple months later, Chris passed away. He was known as the “Mayor” of his area because his neighbors thought that much of him.  We knew how driven he was to see our neighborhoods grow together.

After talking with his spouse, we decided that, in his memory, we would attempt to combine our groups once again and add other areas with whom Chris had been talking. We didn’t want to “push” areas together, but wanted everyone to feel they were part of a group.

We went from the Balz and Crystal/Court Conlin Neighborhood Associations to regroup and become the Knight Neighborhood Association. We had a couple of meetings and were excited for our future, but then Covid-19 hit.

Boundaries of the Association shall be defined as Lodge on the south side of Covert Avenue to both sides of Pollack Avenue and the east side of Lodge Avenue to the west side of Weinbach Avenue. We hope to pick up the momentum, improve our area and grow our association while remembering the special ones who were a big part of our group becoming what it is today.
