Great American Cleanup, April 2006
Many neighborhoods participated in the Great American Cleanup in April, including the Eastview and South Lincoln Park Drive Neighborhood Associations. The Eastview Neighborhood Association had a record year for participation and trash collected. Neighborhood members and members of the Evansville Vipers Semi Professional Football Team participated. The day was capped off with a cook out in the back yard of Vice President Chris Cook's home. Nineteen neighbors helped out with what South Lincoln Park Drive called "Cleaning up the Home Front" for the Great American Cleanup. They collected enough yard waste to fill a large dumpster. Thanks to Eastview, South Lincoln Park Drive, and all of the other Neighborhood Associations who participated in April's Great American Cleanup. |
Western Terrace Neighborhood Association Can Day, April 1, 2006
The first day of each month is Can Day for Western Terrace. Residents take their cans to 864 N. Helfrich Street to donate cans. The proceeds from the collections help pay for the Western Terrace Neighborhood Association Picnic in August. |
Lamasco Neighborhood Association Advertised Traveling City Hall Program, 2006 A great turnout at March's Traveling City Hall Program was partly credited to work by Lamasco Neighborhood Association. Lamasco sent out hundreds of notices to residents advertising the event. Thanks to all who attended and thanks to Lamasco for helping to get the word out! |
Great American Cleanup of 2005
Thanks to all Neighborhood Associations and volunteers for their hard work in 2005. Results for three dates in 2005: 600 volunteers; 1,089 hours of work; 13,700 pounds of litter collected; 308 tires recycled; 5,000 flowers planted. Great work! |
Petition of Interest for Sidewalk Repair/Replacement, December 2005 Lamasco sent out reminders and forms to be considered for the sidewalk replacement program. Through the program, residents and landlords can have the city pay for 75% of the cost. |
Wheeler Drive Children's Halloween Celebration, October 31, 2005 Children from Wheeler and Tepe Park Neighborhoods were invited to Haynie's Corner for pumpkin painting, prizes for costumes, ghost stories, candy, and more! |
10th Annual Neighborhood Sparkplug Recognition Dinner, October 27, 2005
Neighborhood and city leaders attended and participated in this evening of good cheer, great fellowship, celebration, and recognition. Congratulations to the Neighborhood Sparkplugs and Neighborhood Crime Prevention Officers who received awards at the Banquet. Thanks for all of your hard work! |
Neighborhood Training Event, September 22, 2005 At the General Membership Meeting, members received a copy of the Neighborhood Association Tool-kit and a Certificate of Completion as a "Neighborhood Mentor." |
The Regional Neighborhood Network Conference, September 15-17 in Muncie, IN
UNOE members, staff, and volunteers attended this event in order to learn more about business development, improving quality of life, capitalizing on diversity and much more.

Annual National Night Out, August 2nd, 2005
Heightens awareness of crime and drug prevention and strengthens the relationship between police and the neighbors they serve. Evansville's National Night Out has been nationally recognized as among the top 25 of such celebrations in the country. 2005 was the eleventh year the event was held in Evansville. Goosetown Festival, 2003
Held from 1975-1990, this tradition began anew in 2002. Rides, games, crafts, live entertainment and much more. An opportunity to contribute to the Evansville community and to raise funds for neighborhoods and organizations. Partners have included Willard Library, Evansville Police Department, Red Cross, Evansville Courier & Press, Evansville Boys and Girls Club, and Calvary Baptist Church |
Clem Frank Nature Preserve Dedication, April 2003 A coalition between Westside Improvement, Western Terrace Neighborhood Association and Four Rivers Resource, Conservation and Development Area worked to preserve woodlands under the Wabash River Heritage Land Trust. Developer Clem Frank donated land, with WSIA paying a $2,500 survey fee. |

Lincoln Bellemeade SAE Cookout and Leaf Cleanup, November 2002
The Lincoln Bellemeade Neighborhood Association partnered with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity to improve their neighborhood. |
Operation City Beautiful Cleanup, June 2002 Removed trash, glass, pipe, concrete, and much more from the woods in 5 hours. |
Great American Cleanup, Fall 2001
Hill Top Neighborhood Association, Mater Dei High School, and Operation City Beautiful. Neighborhood cleanup projects with volunteers from community and Mater Dei. OCB provided gloves and trash bags. Mater Dei students also were able to earn service points for school. Removed trash, tires, bed frames, etc. Made a difference in the neighborhood while getting to know each other and having fun. |
Qualification for Weed and Seed Program, 2001 CHAIN, STAR, and Jacobsville Neighborhood Associations worked with police and city officials to qualify for up to $175,000 in federal funding as part of the United States Department of Justice's Weed and Seed Program. Projects completed include creation of safe havens, removal of graffiti, sponsorship of neighborhood food pantry, creation of sports leagues, etc. |
